Community Projects
Our organization has been getting involved and volunteering locally in various ways beyond organized video calling services! Petersville Community Garden
Ongoing Through Summer 2020
Our volunteers are working on the Petersville Community Garden! It is a pilot project run with help from the City of London! The community garden is located at West Lions Park. We're very proud of our participation in this local green initiative.
Eid Gift Baskets
July 30th to August 2nd
We're organizing and delivering Eid presents to low-income children in Mississauga, Ontario. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it harder on everyone to show they care, and some members of the community may be struggling financially. Eid is a celebration about bringing together friends and family. We wanted to do our part in helping combat some of the loneliness people may be feeling, and bring some joy to our local communities!
Retirement Home Concert
July 30th
We are hosting an outdoor concert at a retirement home in London, featuring a live ukuleleist singer. In corresponding with retirement home managers, they have identified that events and activities for residents have been lacking due to the health restrictions in place. An idea put forth by the Silver Connect team was that of an outdoor concert at a retirement home that would entertain the residents while keeping their safety a priority. Many of the retirement homes we contacted were eager to arrange this event as they too saw its potential to benefit the residents. Starting at the end of July 2020 and continuing through August, we will be collaborating with retirement homes to organize similar COVID-friendly welcoming events for seniors to enjoy a nice concert.
